Cycling
The Tour de France passes by the chalet as they climb up to the famous Col de Tourmalet on the 12th July 2009.
Chalet Hay is perfect for cycling holidays in the Pyrenees. It is located on the Col du Tourmalet (about 3 km from its start in St Marie De Campan) route and a few miles from the col du Aspin, another tour De france Route. The chalet has room for bike storage and is positioned well for day trips to other areas for instance Luz Ardiden, Cauterets, Hautacam. To accommodate cyclists we are happy to offer shorter weekend breaks or training breaks out of peak season. please contact us via email and we will try to accommodate your requirements
Road cycling is a big attraction here in the Pyrenees. There are
endless routes for all abilities. Many cyclists visit each year to
conquer the Cols, 12 of which have been in past tours, especially the
famous "Tour De France" Col du Tourmalet. There are of course many routes
that are considerably less strenuous especially in the Barronies (foot
hills of this area of the Pyrenees).
Mountain Biking - off road
biking is well catered for with 350 km of marked trails in the
immediate area and more in the adjacent valleys. Routes are coded to
represent different levels of difficulty.
It is possible to
descend from the Pic du Midi via the cable car by mountain bike,
however check with the La Mongie tourist information for up-to-date
weather and access conditions.
