- The Tourmalet opens Saturday 29th December- It was confirmed that after a further 70cm snowfall, more snow  forecast for later in the week and thecontinued cold weather, that the new ski season will start this saturday.  See the latest photos and comment from the official Tourmalet website on the Link below.

- Fantastic early season snow means skiing at La Mongie will open on Saturday the 29th of November as planned, see the following link for recent photos of the resort,

- Since 2006 the Pic Du Midi observatory has been open to free riders without an accompanying guide. The following report from Piste Hors ( off piste in French) website dates back to 2006 but explains the rules.

-The 2009 Tour de France route has been announced. Again the tour comes right passed the Chalet. The tour passes through on the 9th stage from Saint-Gaudens to Tarbes on the 12th of July 2009.  The route incorporates the famous Tourmalet pass.  The following link takes you to the Tour de France stage page.

Ryanair have recently revealed a new ski flight form London Stanstead to Tarbes/Lourdes airport. The flights will be weekly and will fly in and out every Saturday. This gives a transfer time of roughly 40 minutes to Chalet Hay. Not bad when you consider the skiing starts at 1800, see the following link to Ryanairs homepage for flight details.
